Vaayai Moodi Pesavum is the first Tamil romantic comedy with a satirical edge. The film is about two people, Varun (Devadarshini) and Arjun (Vivek Prasanna), who are looking for love but are unaware of each other's existence. A chance meeting leads to them falling for each other. But, Varun's family is against the match as she has 'royal blood'. What starts as a struggle between love and tradition becomes an emotional roller-coaster of twists and turns, all through the lens of relationships between modern day Tamils and their conservative parents, siblings and community. Vivek Prasanna and Devadarshini were cast as the lead pair. The duo had earlier worked together in "Yaaruda Mahesh". Niveda Thomas was roped in as a supporting actress. She has earlier appeared as a supporting actress in films such as "Sundara Purushan", "Paiyaa" and "Yuvvraaj", and also had a brief role in Shah Rukh Khan's film, "Don 2". The film was shot primarily around Chennai and its suburbs, and it took six months to complete the first schedule of filming. G. V. Prakash Kumar was appointed to direct the film. Danny Shanmugam, who earlier worked as an assistant director for Vasanthabalan's "Aadhavan", was hired as the music director for this film. The soundtrack album consists of six tracks composed by Shanmugam. The lyrics were penned by composer Ashok Teja and Varun Tejas. The song "Nee Pata Chori Ambe Maa" (sung by Devadarshini) was well accepted by critics and audience alike, with many calling it a perfect track for Devadarshini, saying it would quite easily be the anthem for any girl trying to woo her loved one. At the audio release, lyrics for five songs were released. J. Hurtado of "Twitch Film" said that the film had good performances by Vivek, Devadarshini and Niveda Thomas. He further said it was "nice to see something different in Tamil cinema, one more reason to see it". A critic from "Behindwoods" gave two stars out of five for this film. The critic said that the initial part is very promising but it looses out pace in second half. He praised the acting performance of Vivek Prasanna and Devadarshini, but criticised Niveda's character saying that she is wasted in an insignificant role. The soundtrack of the film was released on 15 May 2013. Devadarshini and Vivek Prasanna sung five songs, and the lyrics were penned by Ashok Teja and Varun Tejas. A review from Behindwoods said that "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum" had a good first half but the songs didn’t stay in your head."The satellite rights of the film were sold to Kalaignar TV. The film was given a "U" (Universal) certificate by the Indian Censor Board, with a runtime of 2 hours and 14 minutes. Vaayai Moodi Pesavum's overseas distribution rights were sold to TFC Motion Pictures for $1 million. cfa1e77820
